With its business expanding, 01 Computer System required a facelift to its website to create a dynamic online presence to facilitate business growth and keep up with technological trends. Apart from cosmetic changes, the company also wishes to increase the scope of the website.

The company’s increasing portfolio means that more products and content need to be injected into the website on a regular basis. Without a proper system connecting the online shop to the product management system, adding new products or changing current ones requite double updating work, leading to ineffective use of manpower and resources.

Hence, 01 Computer System seeks a customized web development solution that can allow the company to conduct periodic updates to its site in an effective manner.

Solution

01 Computer chose to work with Notion Age, well versed in web development and software applications, to revamp and expand its website, including implementing a Product Management System and an Online Shop. These developments can help increase operational productivity and efficiency, as well as cutting down on manpower.

The result was the re-launch of 01 Computer System’s website in October 2006. Based on the company’s needs, Notion Age broke down the revamp into two stages.

The first saw the creation of a new website architecture that accommodates the expansion of content sections as well as future content addition. The second stage is the creation and implementation of a customized system that allows the company to better manage its product line on its site.

For the first stage, an animated Flash banner was placed on the homepage to project a vibrant look but at the same time, maintain a corporate image. The remaining site is created with HTML to facilitate speedy loading times and ensure its compatibility with its online store.

For the second stage, Notion Age developed the idea of merging the Online Store with the Products and Services section to avoid double updating. The Online Store is operated by a Content Management System (CMS), which allows for customizable product page display and can accommodate promotions and addition of new products. Users can choose to sort the products by any sequence they like- date, category, size and more. Complementing the CMS is an online Order Processing System, where orders from the Online Store are easily processed and products details can be updated.

To provide 01 Computer System an all-rounded service, a flexible maintenance package was crafted out, catering for ongoing and ad-hoc marketing programs. This package include creation of new sections and updates for Promotions, News & Events, Career opportunities, new products, services and other site-related updates.

With the online store incorporated into the new website design and the development of a strong CMS backend support, product updates and order processing are now a speedy affair, increasing staff productivity and efficiency and reduces costs.
