How to SEO your website rank on Google Singapore Search Result

I going to share the tips based on my experience for how to SEO a website to target on Google.com.sg (Local Based Search Result).

Basically if you are visitors from Singapore when you visit google.com it will auto-redirect to Google.com.sg. And there are 2 types of search options “the web” or “pages from Singapore”.

Google gives more recognition to country specific website in local search results if Google think that your website provides relevant local information for a particular search queries, you will be automatically get listed on Google.com.sg.

Based on my experience, there are 2 basic requirements for appearing on “pages from Singapore’ only search results, if the website using a ccTLD (com.sg / .sg) or hosted in Singapore based web data center.

So how do you tell Googlebot that your website is Singapore based website and make them appear more results on Google.com.sg?

Beside the most common method using the word ‘Singapore’ in the meta tag content (example: title, description, keyword or country) on your home page or writing local specific content, these are the following methodology you can adopt.

  1. You can use word of “Singapore” on all web page body content, it can be part of the footer or header.
  2. Put full office address and telephone number with country code +65 on contact us page.
  3. Add your full address on Google Maps.
  4. Using Google webmaster tool to set target territory to “Singapore”
  5. Link building with include country name “Singapore” in anchor text links.
  6. Try to get inbound links from local relevant sites. You can do so by searching those website that appear on “pages from Singapore”. Example: Blog, Forums or Classifieds.
  7. Outbound links to some authorise Singapore local websites. Example: website from .gov.sg .org.sg or edu.sg

After you adopted all above SEO techniques, I believe your website should be able to recognize by Google that you are Singapore based website. Please be patient to wait for some time to see the results. Enjoy!

Wow,

didn’t know that to ranking in Google.com.sg is different from Google.com
I have some questions, hope you can answer it.

1. As you mention that to get rank high in Local Search engine, we have to get a local domain name [.Com.sg] Is it still possible to rank if i get a local domain name but hosting in overseas hosting company? [Hostgator.com]

2. What about website that have both .com and overseas hosting? Can we use the above method that you mention and get higher rank in Google Local Singapore Search Engine?

Would really appreciate your help to answer these questions. Thanks

1. Yes is still possible to rank on local search result. But of course is better to host you website at the area of your targeted visitors. No just in terms of SEO, it also give you faster speed.

2. Yes is also possible but you need to have very good effort of SEO adopted and also depends on your competition, if is not very competitive is easier, if is very competitive industry, I can only say is not easy.

Hope I am answering your questions :)

Hi Jack,

Thanks for your answer! Really appreciate it. :)
However would like to know why for google.com.sg

When i type in certain keywords, it show different website for both ‘the web’ search and ‘pages from Singapore’ search?

I always thought that once you are searching through google.com.sg, it’s going to be the same website? Would appreciate you can explain it?

Thanks

Nope is different result. Option for ‘the web’ it will include global result however local result will be also prioritize. If you select ‘pages from Singapore’ it will only focus on website that obviously in local.
